On an annual basis, SIO hosts “Talk Tuesdays,” a virtual series designed to teach early-career interventional radiologists the basics of research development. Those who attend the full series, live or on-demand, are eligible for the SIO Young IO Research Fellowship Award. Said award includes a travel stipend and free registration to the 2027 Annual Scientific Meeting, plus funding to support the start of a research project under the guidance of a mentor.

- Participate in 2026 Talk Tuesday's lecture series (must attend all four lectures live or complete all recorded modules
- Submit a research strategy/letter of intent (one page) for an IO research project (clinical, translational) that
- Is based on an innovative and interesting hypothesis and research plan (rather than extensive preliminary results)
- Is feasible and is likely to be pursued by the applicant (e.g. initial proof-of-concept analyses no large funding requirements)
- Potential to become larger project
- Simple retrospective data analyses or projects in established labs are ineligible
- Submit up-to-date CV, letter of support from research supervisor
- Hold a current, active membership with SIO

- Award of $6,050 USD following the SIO 2027 Annual Scientific Meeting (to be used for travel to visit mentor or preliminary research materials)
- Travel stipend of ($500 USD (local), $750 (domestic), or $1,000 (international) to assist with travel and housing costs for the SIO 2027 Annual Scientific Meeting
- Complimentary registration to the SIO 2027 Annual Scientific Meeting.
- Opportunity to present a research project at the SIO 2027 Annual Scientific Meeting in Toronto Ontario, CA.
- Awardee will be paired with an SIO Research Development Sub-Committee faculty member based on common interest, who will serve as a mentor to the awardee for six months
