Professor S. Nahum Goldberg, MD, FSIR, FCIRSE  is a Full Professor of Radiology at Hadassah Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel and a Visiting Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. He is Head of the Interventional Oncology Unit and Director of the Applied Radiology Research Laboratory at Hadassah Medical Center. He is also the Vice-Chair for Research in the Department of Radiology at Hadassah. 

Prof. Goldberg graduated from Yeshiva University in New York, New York, USA in 1988 and Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Connecticut, USA in 1992. He completed his radiology residency and fellowship in abdominal imaging and intervention at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, USA in 1997 and 1998 respectively, and received his Master of Science degree in radiologic sciences at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA in 2008. Prof. Goldberg’s research interests include over 25 years of experience studying image-guided tumor ablation and imaging studies. His independent Applied Radiology Laboratory at Hadassah and Minimally Invasive Tumour Therapies Laboratory at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston are dedicated to uncovering methods to improve tumor ablation.

As the Unit Chief of Image-guided Therapy at Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center, Prof. Goldberg also has considerable experience with clinical trials and interventional oncologic techniques. He has authored more than 240 original scientific manuscripts, 25 book chapters and reviews, 8 guest editorials in Radiology and JVIR, and 9 patents, and has been the principle investigator of multiple peer-reviewed research grants. These in total represent some of the most cited papers in interventional radiology, with the majority concerning the development and advancement of personalized delivery of image-guided minimally invasive techniques, such as radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of cancer.

Prof. Goldberg, a member of the Israel National Academy of Science in Medicine, is a founding member of the Society of Interventional Oncology (SIO), a fellow of the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE), and has also served on multiple national and international committees advancing interventional radiology, including CIRSE, the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), and the European Society of Radiology (ESR). He previously served as section editor for the interventional oncology series in Radiology. At the SIO2023 Annual Scientific Meeting, Dr. S. Nahum Goldberg will present the Dr. Sidney Wallace and Dr. Michael J. Wallace Distinguished Lecture.
