The MSK Regional Master Class is an intensive workshop and networking course designed to offer practical knowledge, insights on the latest research, case presentations, and discussion for interventional radiologists looking to begin or expand their practice in musculoskeletal interventions.
This course intends to address educational gaps in MSK training such as knowledge (familiarity, awareness, or understanding gained through experience or study), competence (ability to apply knowledge, skills, and judgment in practice), and performance (what one actually does in practice). These gaps were identified by the Program Planning Committee and supported by an educational needs assessment administered to SIO members in which MSK interventions was ranked as one of the top emerging topics in interventional radiology.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
- Learner will be able to discuss high-risk fracture patterns, advantages of mechanical augmentation, new implants in spine augmentation, and potential complications and mitigation strategies of MSK interventions.
- Learner will be able to discuss indications for radiofrequency ablation in the spine, indications for cyroablation in the spine, thermoprotective techniques of spine ablation.
- Learner will be able to discuss common indications for percutaneous biopsy, different ablation techniques relevant to the bones and soft tissues, adjunctive block and neurolysis techniques.
- Learner will be able to discuss indications and technical considerations for mechanical and traditional augmentation vs. vertebroplasty in the spine, and complications associated with all augmentation techniques.
