APDIR president Kevin Kim invited several academic interventional oncologists to discuss subspecialty training in interventional oncology. Fortunately, most of the rotten tomatoes had been launched during the first session, but nonetheless a lively discussion ensued.

One of my favorite patients is in terminal liver failure in the ICU. The sad thing is that she is dying slowly on a ventilator instead of peacefully at home. And that is partly my fault.

The House of God was published in 1976; it became one the most popular medical novels of all time. Embedded in it are the Laws of the House of God. The Third Law is “The patient is the one with the disease". I invoke this Law almost every week in my clinic.

The World Conference on Interventional Oncology has bolstered my growing passion for interventional oncology and interventional radiology as a whole. As a radiology resident about to enter fellowship, I am looking forward to an exciting career in the ever evolving field of interventional oncology.
